NGC Receives Prestigious Supply & Demand Chain Executive “100” Honor for Fifth Consecutive Year

In the June issue of Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine the magazine recognized the top 100 supply chain projects in the industry. NGC is honored to be included in this elite list for the fifth consecutive year.

The 2015 Supply & Demand Chain Executive “100” recognizes solution and service providers as leaders in assisting customers in the supply chain function of their business. The honorees and their customers have produced measurable gains in ROI through cost-cutting and increased efficiency, whether in warehouse, transportation, procurement, sourcing or any other category in the end-to-end supply chain.

This year, NGC received the honor for our work deploying the NGC Supply Chain Management and EZ-Ship software for Rocky Brands, Inc. Rocky Brands is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of premium footwear and apparel marketed under a portfolio of well recognized brand names including Rocky®, Georgia Boot®, Durango®, Lehigh®, Creative Recreation® and the licensed brand Michelin®. Rocky Brands also supplies footwear to the United States military.

In 2014, the Nelsonville, Ohio based company implemented NGC’s EZ-Ship software, a factory scan and pack system that integrates with NGC's web-based Supply Chain Management (SCM) system, in order to ensure carton compliance and inventory accuracy. This ensures that each box of shoes is correctly labeled and sounds an audible alarm if the products are incorrectly labeled (thus preventing a size 8 shoe from being labeled a size 7, for example).

With EZ-Ship, Rocky Brands improved the flow of products through the scanning, packing and shipping process, while ensuring the use of standard carton labeling and ASN formats. The system also enabled the company to improve its finished goods inventory management.

Integrating NGC’s EZ-Ship with the NGC Supply Chain Management System improved validation at the receiving end, through the use of standard ASNs. Rocky Brands has streamlined the direct-to-consumer shipping process, providing visibility into the date each shipment left the factory and whether it was packaged according to the customer’s wishes. The system also supports “musical packaging” (mixed sizes in the same package), so that customer distribution centers no longer have to repack cartons to send to the stores.

Speed to Market Takes Center Stage in Supply Chain Management

The 2015 Apparel Magazine Sourcing Report confirms what we at NGC have been observing all year: fashion companies are looking to technology to help them make further gains in supply chain efficiency, visibility and speed to market.

According to the report, 60% of apparel companies are looking to improve their speed-to-market strategies in the next 12 months, and 18% plan to do so next year. That’s a whopping 78% of companies that are looking to reduce cycle times.

The renewed emphasis on speed to market is balanced by a focus on quality. As the report notes, “The demands of omnichannel retail, competition from fast fashion and new emerging markets in China all back an intense push for companies to bring products to market faster than ever. At the same time, consumer demands are helping to keep quality top of mind when companies consider new sourcing partners and regions.”

There are a number of supply chain functions that can help companies improve speed to market, quality and overall performance and efficiency – from P.O. management, WIP tracking and inbound visibility to systems that streamline and manage vendor compliance and product testing.

Because of NGC’s leadership and experience in fashion supply chain management (our Supply Chain Management system is now in its version 15 release), we’re proud to note that all of these features are included in our SCM solution. Check out the chart on the right from last year’s Apparel Sourcing report; the chart shows all the most important SCM features, and NGC’s SCM system includes every one of them.

From forecasting to sourcing to WIP to compliance, NGC’s fashion SCM solution includes all the most important features to improve speed to market and quality, which makes us an ideal partner to help companies make tremendous strides in their supply chain operations.
